Ben Seghir: "I Didn't Think the Africa Cup of Nations Was This Difficult"
Morocco national team player Elias Ben Seghir acknowledged the difficulty of competing in the Africa Cup of Nations, recognizing the significance of his teammates' achievement in reaching the final to face Senegal.
Speaking at the pre-final press conference, Elias stated, "Honestly, I didn't think the Africa Cup of Nations was this difficult."
He continued, "When you defeat Nigeria and see players like Hakimi, Bounou, and Diaz crying... because they know how difficult the Africa Cup of Nations is, that's when you realize the magnitude of what you've achieved."
Ben Seghir added, "I joined the national team after the loss to South Africa in the Africa Cup of Nations, which was a dark period for all Moroccans. Over two years with Regragui, we have done our utmost to be in peak readiness for this tournament."
He concluded, "African football is developing, and there are some players who are not well-known, but they are very good."
The Morocco national team is set to face Senegal in the AFCON final tomorrow, Sunday, at 20:00 GMT+1, at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
