Nigeria Defender: 'We Subdued Algeria, Referee Was Good and We Deserved to Win'
Bright Osayi-Samuel, a defender for the Nigerian national team, affirmed that his teammates "dominated" the match against Algeria, which ended in a 2-0 victory for Victor Osimhen's side, securing their qualification for the semi-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations "Morocco 2025".
The right-back stated after the match: "We scored two goals and kept a clean sheet, which is fantastic. The Algerian national team has scored many goals, but today they didn't manage a single shot on target, which shows our defense was strong, as was our attack."
The Birmingham City player added: "It was a great match for our team. I don't know what they (Algeria) were lacking, but perhaps we should be credited for what we achieved. We subdued Algeria. The refereeing? I cannot comment on it; all I believe is that the referee was good. Everyone has their opinion, and my opinion is that we played well and deserved to win."
It is worth noting that the Algerian national team did not register any shots on target against Nigeria, in contrast to Nigeria's five shots on target.
