Brys: "I Still Consider Myself Cameroon Coach Because I Haven't Been Sacked!"
Marc Bryss, the former coach of the Cameroon national team, has returned, having been "dismissed" from his duties without "notification" from either the Cameroonian Football Federation (FECAFOOT) or the Cameroonian Ministry of Sports.
FECAFOOT, led by Samuel Eto'o, had dismissed Bryss from his position just 20 days before the start of the Africa Cup of Nations, a move that sparked significant controversy. The Belgian coach asserted that his dismissal has not yet been made official, and he still considers himself the coach of the "Indomitable Lions."
Speaking in an interview with Belgian channel Sporza, Bryss stated: "I still consider myself the coach of the Cameroon national team because my dismissal has not yet taken place. The Federation does not have the right to dismiss me, even if they have tried several times. Only the President or the Ministry can do that, because they are the ones who appointed me."
He added: "The way things happened is illegal and illogical. You don't see anything like this anywhere else in the world of football. The facts themselves are illegal. There was no communication whatsoever. I hold everyone responsible."
It is worth noting that the Cameroon national team has qualified for the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations and will face the Moroccan national team in a match hosted at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium this Friday (20:00 GMT+1).
