Cameroon Government Awards Players 18 Million CFA Francs Ahead of Morocco Quarter-Final Clash
The Cameroonian government has allocated a significant financial bonus to the senior national team players after they secured their spot in the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations, currently being held in Morocco.
Narcisse Mouelle Kombi, Cameroon's Minister of Sports and Physical Education, confirmed via his official Facebook page that he ordered the disbursement of a financial bonus amounting to 18 million CFA francs (approximately 30 million Moroccan centimes) to each player of the senior national team.
The Cameroonian national team had previously defeated South Africa 2-1 in the round of 16 match, securing their progression in the continental tournament hosted by the Kingdom of Morocco.
According to Cameroonian press reports, the allocated amount for each player combines the bonus for winning the round of 16 match and the bonus for qualifying for the next stage. This move aims to motivate the players and boost their morale ahead of their upcoming fixtures.
The Cameroonian national team is scheduled to face hosts Morocco in a highly anticipated quarter-final clash of the Africa Cup of Nations next Friday. The match will take place at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat, kicking off at 8:00 PM (GMT+1).
