Broos: "Lorch's Exclusion? They Kicked Him Out of Orlando Pirates and Sundowns, Then Suddenly He's Playing Well at Wydad"
Hugo Broos, coach of the South African national team, has once again addressed the non-inclusion of Wydad AC player, Thembinkosi Lorch, in the 'Bafana Bafana' squad selected for the Africa Cup of Nations 'Morocco 2025'.
The 'Boys' team began their AFCON Morocco campaign with a 2-1 victory over Angola on Monday. Following the match, Broos was asked at a press conference about Lorch's absence and responded: "These are my choices. I believe I have 45 players from whom I can select for the squad, so I have to make decisions."
He added: "Everyone says 'Lorch, Lorch, Lorch.' I haven't seen him or heard about him in the last three years. He played for Orlando Pirates, then they kicked him out, he played for Sundowns, then they kicked him out, and now he's at Wydad and suddenly he's playing well. I have made my decision, and that's all there is to it."
South Africa is in Group B and will face Egypt in their second match on Friday at 16:00 GMT+1, at the Grand Stadium of Agadir.
