Aboutrika: El Kaabi a 'Penalty Box Striker,' Ounahi's Comoros Performance Unconvincing

Former Egyptian international Mohamed Aboutrika discussed the performance of the "Atlas Lions" in their 2-0 victory over Comoros, singling out striker Ayoub El Kaabi for praise.

Speaking on beIN Sports' analytical studio, Aboutrika stated: "There are players who are 'born in the penalty area,' and El Kaabi is one of them. He knows this area by heart and possesses quick and easy methods to get to goal."

He continued: "The goal he scored demonstrated excellent tactical awareness, especially the two steps he took backward without ever losing sight of the ball, which is a difficult feat to manage in rainy conditions. For me, he should be a starter as he is the national team's best striker."

Aboutrika added: "The performance will improve gradually. Opening matches are always complex, and the most important thing is to secure the win. However, the attacking aspects of the game must evolve. Frankly, I was not impressed with Ounahi's level today because he possesses far more talent than he showed, and his development is crucial for improving the team's overall performance."

Regarding Walid Regragui's tactical choices, he added: "In my analysis, Walid Regragui does not seem to have a complete vision for his attacking trio, which is not ideal in tournament play. You must have a full understanding of your starting eleven who will play the first match, as they should ideally be the same players who will feature in the final. Changes should only be made in emergency situations, such as injuries."

Aboutrika concluded his analysis by stating: "Ayoub El Kaabi is my first choice, and with the pressure of the opening match now behind them, I believe Ounahi's performance will show significant improvement."
