Lekjaa Calls for African-European Competitions: "Why Should the Link Be Only About Recruiting African Talent?"
Faouzi Lekjaa, President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), has called for the creation of joint competitions between Europe and Africa. He believes such initiatives would foster football development beyond a narrow commercial focus.
In an interview with the French newspaper "France Football," Lekjaa stated, "Why don't we think about European-African competitions? Whether at club level, youth categories, or others."
He further questioned, "Why should the link between Africa and Europe remain limited only to a commercial logic based on recruiting African talents towards Europe?"
The FRMF President emphasized the need for a more structured relationship. "We must structure this relationship more extensively and build a real bridge between the two continents, serving the mutual development of football and not just the transfer of players," Lekjaa concluded.
