With El-Shibi Starting, Pyramids Fail to Reach Intercontinental Cup Final After 2-0 Loss to Flamengo
Brazilian club Flamengo secured their spot in the final of the Intercontinental Club Cup after defeating Egyptian side Pyramids 2-0. The match took place on Saturday at Ahmed bin Ali Stadium in Doha, the Qatari capital.
Moroccan player Mohamed El-Shibi featured for Pyramids, starting the game, while his teammate Walid El Karti was absent due to his commitment with the Moroccan B national team in the ongoing 2025 Arab Cup in Qatar.
Flamengo opened the scoring in the 24th minute through Léo Pereira, following an assist from Giorgian De Arrascaeta. Veteran Danilo then doubled their lead in the 52nd minute, also assisted by De Arrascaeta, guiding his team to a comfortable victory.
With this win, Flamengo will face French club Paris Saint-Germain, the reigning UEFA Champions League holders, in the final. The match is scheduled for next Wednesday, December 17, at the same stadium, in the second edition of the tournament.
