Flamengo Advance Past Cruz Azul, Set Up Semifinal Clash with Pyramids in Intercontinental Cup

Brazilian club Flamengo secured their spot in the Intercontinental Cup semifinals after defeating Mexican side Cruz Azul 2-1 on Wednesday evening. The match took place at Ahmed bin Ali Stadium in Doha, the Qatari capital.

Flamengo took the lead in the 15th minute through Giorgian De Arrascaeta. Cruz Azul equalized in the 44th minute with a goal from Jorge Sanchez.

In the second half, Copa Libertadores champions Flamengo sealed the victory with their winning goal in the 71st minute, once again scored by De Arrascaeta.

Flamengo will face Egyptian side Pyramids FC in the Intercontinental Cup semifinal this Saturday (18:00 GMT+1) at Ahmed bin Ali Stadium. The winner will advance to the final to play against UEFA Champions League winners Paris Saint-Germain. The final match is scheduled for December 17 (18:00 GMT+1) and will also be held at Ahmed bin Ali Stadium in Qatar.
