Khribin Suffers Hand Fracture, Doubtful for Syria's Morocco Clash

10 December 2025at16:58

Ahead of their anticipated clash against Morocco in the opening match of the 2025 Arab Cup quarter-finals, the Syrian national team has suffered a significant blow with the absence of their top scorer and key player, Omar Khribin, along with defender Abdullah Al-Shami, both due to injury.

Spanish head coach Jose Lana had hinted in the pre-match press conference at the potential absence of several Syrian players due to injury, without specifying their identities.

The (winwin) platform confirmed that Khribin sustained a hand fracture during yesterday's training session on Tuesday.

Sources indicated that the medical staff is keen to avoid placing a cast on Khribin's hand to prevent him from being ruled out of play. Instead, they will attempt to stabilize his wrist in a way that might allow him to play for limited minutes in the second half of the match if necessary.

Morocco is set to face Syria tomorrow, Thursday, with the match kicking off at 3:30 PM (15:30 GMT+1).
