Zaid Amir (Comoros Player): "We Paid the Price for a Poor Start Against Morocco… The Third Goal Put Us in a Difficult Position"
Zaid Amir, a player for the Comoros national team, expressed his regret over his team's performance in their match against Morocco, which saw the "Atlas Lions" secure a 3-1 victory in the first round of the Arab Cup group stage.
In a televised statement, Amir explained that his national team failed to impose their style of play from the opening minutes, which led to them conceding two early goals that disrupted their strategy. They then conceded a third goal, further complicating the match.
Zaid Amir stated: "From the beginning of the match, we didn't display what we truly intended. We started the game poorly and immediately paid the price for it. We conceded two goals very quickly, and then we conceded the third goal, which put us in a difficult position."
He continued: "In the second half, we managed to raise our level, but it wasn't enough. We scored a goal that gave us a morale boost and we tried to press, but we needed a higher tempo to be able to get back into the game."
The Comoros player affirmed that his national team is determined to correct their mistakes and present a better performance in the upcoming matches, adding that fans will witness "a more positive image" of the team as the competition progresses.
