Baha: 'We Saw a Handball, So How Did the Referee Not See It? Are the Angles We See the Same as in the VAR Room?'
Nabil Baha, head coach of the Morocco U17 national team, criticized the refereeing during the "Atlas Cubs'" quarter-final match against Brazil in the U17 World Cup.
Following the match, Baha stated in press remarks: "Errors that can be reviewed are painful, especially when you can see the replays and review them multiple times."
He added: "We saw it from the bench; we saw the replays. We saw a handball, so how could the referee not see it? That is the question. Are the angles we can see the same as those they have on VAR? This is what hurts."
He continued: "To lose in the 94th minute is difficult, not just for the coach, but also for players of this age. The children were crying in the dressing room because they wanted to go far in this tournament, make the Moroccan people happy, play in a World Cup final, and enter the history of Moroccan football. But unfortunately, that was not possible."
He concluded: "What the players delivered in this tournament was exceptional. I believe everyone enjoyed watching them play. Everyone saw, with the exception of the first two matches, that they are capable of making us proud, that they are capable of beating any team, that they never gave up, and that they sacrificed themselves and gave their utmost effort, whether in defense or attack. But, unfortunately, football is sometimes cruel."
