Jurčić Shuts Down El Karti's National Team Hopes: Pyramids Forbids Players from Joining Local Squads or Non-FIFA Calendar Tournaments
Croatian coach Krunoslav Jurčić, technical director of Egyptian club Pyramids FC, affirmed his club's clear stance regarding the possibility of Moroccan player Walid El Karti joining the Moroccan A' national team participating in the Arab Cup. He emphasized that Pyramids does not allow its players to join local national teams or tournaments held outside the international calendar.
In press statements, Jurčić clarified that the club's policy is based on allowing its players to join only senior national teams during approved international breaks. He stated that professional teams require squad stability and the presence of their key players, especially with the demanding match schedule and the team's continental commitments.
The Pyramids coach added that the club's players “are among the best talents in the African continent” and “deserve to represent major national teams.” He noted that maintaining the squad's readiness is a priority as the team strives to compete strongly in various competitions, most notably the CAF Champions League.
