Sektioui: "Arab Cup Coinciding with AFCON is 'Completely Unhealthy' for Moroccan National Teams"
Tarik Sektioui, coach of the Moroccan reserve national team, held a press conference on Friday to announce the squad called up for the Arab Cup. During the conference, he criticized the tournament's timing coinciding with the Africa Cup of Nations.
Sektioui stated: "The coincidence of the Arab Cup with the Africa Cup of Nations is completely unhealthy, whether for the Moroccan senior national team or the reserve team. Frankly, the timing is unhealthy for football."
He continued: "Some players will join us after just one day, and some names will be traveling to Tanzania and South Africa. Therefore, we don't have enough time for preparation. The Arab Cup is a very important and significant tournament, not a small competition."
He added: "We will go to Qatar with great humility, just as we did in the Olympics and CHAN. Our goal is to win the Arab Cup title and honor the national flag in the best possible way. We are not the sole favorites to win the title, but we will compete with humility, without pride or arrogance."
