Benatia: "We will speak with the Moroccan national team's medical staff to find the best possible solution to help Aguerd recover"
Mehdi Benatia, Sporting Director of Olympique Marseille, revealed details regarding the health status of Moroccan international Nayef Aguerd, confirming that the French club will collaborate with the Moroccan national team to find the optimal solution for the player's situation, aiming to return him to the field in his best physical condition.
Benatia stated in media remarks: "Nayef is suffering from chronic pain that has become more severe recently. Unfortunately, he was unable to finish the match against Brest, which is regrettable because he is in a lot of pain. We tried to manage his situation as best as possible over the past few weeks, and we saw in the Auxerre match that he wasn't feeling well, so the coach preferred not to risk him given his significant discomfort."
Benatia added: "Certainly, Morocco has a major tournament to play on home soil, and this is very important, but ultimately, the health of the players is paramount. We will speak with the Moroccan national team's medical staff to find the best possible solution for Nayef, so we can help him recover and get rid of this pain."
He concluded: "I don't know if I will be the one directly handling the matter, but in any case, we will try to reach out to them, especially as there will be communication between the doctors, to find the best solution for Nayef, so we can get him back on his feet and try to overcome his pain. He has a season full of pressure, with the domestic league, Champions League, Africa Cup of Nations, and World Cup. He is not ready to stop, so perhaps it would be best for him to use this period to rest a little and regain his fitness."
