De Zerbi: Aguerd Suffers from Sports Hernia, Will Miss Time to Ensure AFCON Participation
Roberto De Zerbi, coach of Olympique Marseille, has revealed the nature of the injury sustained by Moroccan international Nayef Aguerd during his team's match against Brest.
Speaking at the post-match press conference, De Zerbi stated: "Aguerd is the bad news today. He is still suffering from a sports hernia (pubalgia), and he felt his condition worsen."
He added: "He will undergo medical examinations, but it is essential that he stops playing for a period so he doesn't miss the Africa Cup of Nations."
Aguerd was forced to leave the pitch at the Velodrome Stadium in the 79th minute after experiencing muscular pain during his team's French League match against Brest.
This injury comes at a sensitive time, with only about a month and a half remaining until the start of the Africa Cup of Nations, which the Kingdom will host starting next December.
