Jordanian Sports Media Union President: "Mousa Al-Tamari's Level Exceeds Coach Jamal Salmi's"
Amjad Al-Majali, President of the Jordanian Sports Media Union, made striking statements, asserting that Jordanian national team player Musa Al-Taamari surpasses coach Jamal Salmi in terms of playing ability.
In a statement to Jordan's "Al-Riyadiya" channel, Al-Majali said: "Musa Al-Taamari's level is higher than coach Jamal Salmi in terms of playing. When Jamal Salmi was a player, compared to Al-Taamari, Al-Taamari's level as a player is higher; he is a leader."
Al-Taamari had previously sparked widespread controversy among fans and analysts after being accused of not adhering to the tactical instructions set by Salmi during a friendly match against Switzerland, as part of the Jordanian national team's preparations for the 2026 World Cup finals.
During one period of the match, Al-Taamari urged his teammates to push forward and press the opponent, despite the technical plan not including this approach at that time. This led to gaps in the Jordanian national team's defensive lines, which Switzerland effectively exploited to score a goal via a quick counter-attack.
The Jordanian national team will compete in World Cup Group 10, where they will face Austria, Algeria, and Argentina on June 17, 23, and 28.
