Lamine Yamal Crowned La Liga's Best Player After Exceptional Season with Barcelona
Spanish star Lamine Yamal has been crowned La Liga's Best Player for the 2025-2026 season, following his outstanding performances for Barcelona, which helped guide the team to the league title.
The 18-year-old winger received the award, presented by the Spanish League Association in collaboration with official sponsor EA Sports, succeeding his Brazilian teammate Raphinha, who won the award last season.
Despite suffering from physical issues and recurring groin pain during the first half of the season, Yamal established himself as one of Barcelona's most prominent stars. He played a pivotal role in the team's attack, especially during Raphinha's absence and a dip in goal-scoring effectiveness from Polish striker Robert Lewandowski.
The Spanish international delivered an exceptional individual season, scoring 16 goals and providing 12 assists in 28 league matches. This made him the top contributor to goals within the Catalan club and a key reason for their title triumph.
Yamal continues to cement his status as one of the most promising rising talents in world football, having previously finished second in the Ballon d'Or rankings last year.
Despite sustaining a muscle injury in his left thigh at the end of the season, all eyes are on him to be one of the standout stars at the upcoming World Cup finals, scheduled to be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
