Atletico Madrid Justifies Barcelona Posts, Citing Harassment Campaign Against Player
Spanish club Atletico Madrid has justified the posts targeting Barcelona on its official social media accounts, asserting they were a response to what it described as a campaign of harassment and undermining directed at one of its players recently.
Explaining its motives, the Madrid club indicated that these actions were necessary to counter a series of malicious leaks and false news that have circulated recently. It considered the continuous lack of respect as part of what it termed Barcelona's "story-fabricating machine," clarifying that the satirical posts, which included fictitious transfer offers for Lamine Yamal and Pedri, were a reaction to the Catalan club's interest in signing player Julián Álvarez.
Furthermore, Atletico Madrid leveled direct accusations concerning administrative and judicial files related to its rival. Atletico Madrid stated: "Over the past months, we have been subjected to a campaign of harassment and undermining against one of our players through malicious leaks and false news. However, it would never occur to us to have a vice-president of referees at our service or resort to political favoritism to register players. Respect and values."
Concluding its explanation, the club emphasized the importance of adhering to sporting values in interactions between clubs. It considered its method of responding via digital platforms as aiming to protect its players' rights against what it described as unacceptable practices by the Spanish club Barcelona's management.
