Barcelona Offers €70 Million Plus Ferran Torres for Álvarez; Atlético Madrid Demands €150 Million
Barcelona has intensified its efforts to sign Argentine international striker Julián Álvarez, holding a meeting with his agent where both parties confirmed a mutual desire to complete the deal. The Catalan club aims to finalize the player's transfer before the upcoming World Cup finals to bolster its attacking ranks for the next phase.
Barcelona's management submitted an offer comprising €70 million along with the transfer of Ferran Torres to Atlético Madrid in exchange for Álvarez's signature. However, the Madrid club rejected this proposal, preferring a full cash payment. Reports from the Spanish capital suggest that the fee for the Argentine forward would not be less than €150 million.
Julián Álvarez has shown significant willingness to don the Catalan club's jersey, a factor that has been pivotal in the continuation and development of negotiations recently. Meanwhile, Atlético Madrid officials have been fully aware of Barcelona's interest in signing the player since before the Christmas period last December. Álvarez remains a primary target within the Blaugrana's plans for the 2026-2027 season.
These moves come as Barcelona has already finalized another deal, signing Anthony Gordon for a fixed fee of €70 million plus €10 million in variables. Despite focusing on strengthening attacking positions, the club continues its efforts to overcome the financial obstacles posed by Atlético Madrid's high demands for the release of their Argentine star.
