Marquinhos: "Once You Taste the Champions League, You Want to Repeat the Experience"
Paris Saint-Germain captain Marquinhos affirmed that his team is entering the Champions League final with great motivation and a strong desire to repeat the feeling of triumph, emphasizing that the current squad is hungrier than ever to achieve the European title.
Speaking at the pre-final press conference, Marquinhos stated: "Once you taste the Champions League, you want to repeat the experience. We want to relive that feeling and the excitement that filled the dressing room after the final match (last season). We must be hungry to win."
Marquinhos also spoke about Spanish coach Luis Enrique, saying: "Since Luis Enrique arrived, he has laid solid foundations and a firm philosophy... and all of it has yielded brilliant results. This is how you convince players, not just with words. That's why we are so strong. He is a coach whose role is not limited to the tactical aspect; he also prepares us physically and mentally... He is a complete coach, and things are running smoothly, which is why he is a top-tier coach, and I hope we stay with him for a long time."
The Brazilian defender explained that the Champions League final is no less important to him than the World Cup finals. He stated: "You cannot put yourself at risk in a match like this. We are talking about a Champions League final, a final that isn't played every year; it's extremely difficult. There are players who give their all and never reach this final throughout their careers. Our emotions, hearts, and motivations are all directed towards this match. It's true that the World Cup is an exceptional and very important tournament in any player's career, but the Champions League final is no less important to me. I want to win this title and arrive at the World Cup happier and more confident to perform well."
It is worth noting that Paris Saint-Germain will face English club Arsenal in the Champions League final. The match will take place tomorrow, Saturday, at 17:00 GMT+1, at the Puskás Arena in Budapest, Hungary.
