Abdelhamid After Sundowns Defeat: "One Match Remains, We'll Do Our Best to Turn the Tide"
AS FAR defender Younes Abdelhamid affirmed that his team will work hard to overturn the result against South African side Mamelodi Sundowns in the second leg of the CAF Champions League final.
Speaking to the press after the 1-0 first-leg defeat, Abdelhamid stated: "This was not the result we were expecting; we had hoped for better. I believe we squandered our opportunity in the first half, where we created several scoring chances from simple crosses, but they didn't go our way."
He continued: "After that, the match was tough, as is typical for a final. Despite their possession, I don't think they posed a significant threat, apart from set pieces. Unfortunately, they also scored from a set-piece situation."
Abdelhamid added: "Now there's one final match left, the second leg on our home turf. We will exert all our efforts to pressure them and turn the result around."
He also explained: "There was an issue with the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) system, as it wasn't functioning. Neither team wanted to play without it, which caused a slight delay to the start of the second half. We eventually played despite its absence, and it then resumed operation around midway through the half."
