Simeone After Elimination on Griezmann Incident: "Nothing to Say, We're Out; Congratulations to Arsenal"
Diego Simeone, head coach of Atlético Madrid, addressed his team's elimination from the UEFA Champions League semi-finals at the hands of Arsenal, following their second-leg encounter on Tuesday evening.
Speaking to the media after the 1-0 second-leg defeat, Simeone commented on the refereeing decisions, stating: "I won't dwell on a simple matter like the Griezmann incident. It was very clear, and we understand there was a foul by Bobel on one of their players. We believe he made the correct call in that situation."
He continued: "There's no point in discussing it further, as that would be making excuses, and I don't want to search for excuses. There is nothing more to say. We are out of the tournament. We congratulate Arsenal; they competed well, and I admire their team and coach."
Atlético Madrid were eliminated from the Champions League after a 1-0 defeat in the first leg, despite the first leg having ended in a 1-1 draw.
