Flick Reveals Private Talks with Lewandowski About Barcelona Future
Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has revealed that he held private discussions with striker Robert Lewandowski regarding his contractual situation with the club.
Flick clarified that the club's current and complete focus is on the five remaining matches of the current season, stressing that player evaluations and decisions on their futures will be made after the final whistle of the official competitions.
Responding to questions about the nature of these developments, the German coach confirmed the talks took place, stating: "Of course, we talked about it, but it remains between us. We are only focused on the five remaining games, and after that, we will talk to everyone to see what happens."
These statements come as 37-year-old Lewandowski's contract with Barcelona approaches its conclusion next summer, amid reports suggesting the Catalan club has offered an extension on reduced financial terms.
These developments coincide with growing interest from external clubs, with information indicating offers for the Polish striker from the Saudi League and Chicago Fire in Major League Soccer, in addition to links with AC Milan and Juventus in Italy's Serie A.
In the same context, multiple sources have circulated Barcelona's intention to seek a new striker in the upcoming summer transfer window to strengthen their attacking line, while the final decision regarding the veteran goalscorer's stay remains pending until comprehensive negotiations planned for the end of the season.
