Morena: "It's Been a Long Time Since We Won Something in the CAF Champions League"
Mamelodi Sundowns player Thapelo Morena stated that his team has been eagerly awaiting the opportunity to secure their second CAF Champions League title for a long time, ahead of their final clash against AS FAR this season.
The 32-year-old player said after Sundowns defeated Tunisia's Esperance in the semi-finals: "It's one of those trophies we've been chasing. It's been a long time since we won something in the CAF Champions League."
He added: "The good thing this time is that we know what we're looking at and we can see light at the end of the tunnel."
Morena concluded: "The important thing is to keep working hard. The good thing is that we are getting good results both home and away. We will try to concede fewer goals because that's what we do well in the Champions League."
Mamelodi Sundowns won their first and only CAF Champions League title in 2016 against Egypt's Zamalek, while AS FAR secured their sole title in 1985 against Bilima (now known as Dragon FC of Congo).
