Reims Fans Attack Players: Armed Threats and Racist Remarks!

Stade de Reims players were subjected to an incident similar to one that affected Nice players last November. This occurred on Friday night into Saturday, following their return from a 2-2 draw against Laval in Round 30 of the French second division league.

Upon the players' return to their city, masked and armed supporters were waiting for them inside the club's training center. These individuals managed to break into the club's facilities.

Stade de Reims, currently fifth in the second division league, issued a statement saying: "Individuals claiming to belong to the 'Ultras' group, some of whom were masked and equipped with weapons, infiltrated our Raymond Kopa training center to await the team returning from Laval. These methods are unacceptable and have shocked the entire club. The intervention of security forces was necessary to prevent the situation from escalating out of control."

The statement continued: "The passion that drives the world of football is wonderful, and we understand frustrations and disappointments, but they can in no way justify intimidation, racist remarks, or death threats, especially when they occur in a living space where our young players reside. We have a responsibility to condemn these actions."

The club affirmed its intention to take legal action, stating: "The club will initiate legal proceedings to ensure that such events do not recur. We refuse to downplay them or risk a tragedy. We want to protect our staff, our players, and our football home."

The statement also noted that a call for calm issued in December 2025, following serious injuries sustained by a police officer, went unheeded. The club reiterated that it will remain firm in the face of any form of violence and repeated its appeal for calm.
