Farhani: 'I Requested Moroccan Flag Be Added to Jersey in Second Half; Morocco Is My Second Home'
Algerian player Houari Ferhani of Olympique Safi confirmed that he was unaware of the absence of the Moroccan flag on his jersey until the error was corrected in the second half of his team's match against Algerian side USM Alger.
In an exclusive statement to Al-Botola, Ferhani said: "I want to clarify to Olympique Safi supporters and the Moroccan public that I was unaware of the Moroccan flag's absence on my jersey, as the kit man was the one who did not notice it."
He added: "The team captain noticed the error between the two halves, and after that, I immediately requested to change the jersey. Another jersey bearing the Moroccan flag was then brought."
Ferhani concluded: "Thank God, I am comfortable in Morocco, and I consider it my second country. I have no issues whatsoever, and I ask Olympique Safi supporters not to dwell on this matter because we have the return leg ahead of us."
It is worth noting that Olympique Safi drew goalless against hosts USM Alger in their match today, Saturday, in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup semi-finals.
