Real Mallorca Striker Mateo Joseph Faces Season-Ending Injury Threat
Spanish club Real Mallorca has confirmed that striker Mateo Joseph, on loan from English side Leeds United, sustained an injury to his left knee during a training session last Wednesday at the Son Bibiloni sports centre. The club stated in an official announcement on Thursday that the player's medical condition is being closely monitored to assess the extent of the damage and to formulate an appropriate recovery plan in coordination with his parent club.
Real Mallorca's statement indicated that the next medical steps would be determined following joint technical and medical consultations. The club said, "Once the tests are carried out, we await a joint decision between Leeds and Real Mallorca" regarding the treatment path. In this regard, reports from the newspaper Ultima Hora suggest that initial indications point to a possible anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) tear, an injury that could sideline the player for the remainder of the current season if the final diagnosis is confirmed.
This injury represents a significant blow to the team, which is battling to secure its place in La Liga. Joseph has been an effective contributor in previous matches, scoring two goals against Sevilla and providing an assist for Muriqi's goal against Real Madrid. Simultaneously, the team's coaching staff faces increasing challenges after captain Raíllo underwent surgery on his left ankle last Tuesday, which will deprive the team of his services for the final eight rounds of the league season.
