Issa Diop: 'Paraguay Win a Good Indicator for What's to Come'
Moroccan international Issa Diop expressed his delight following the "Atlas Lions'" 2-1 victory over Paraguay in a friendly match, part of their preparations for the World Cup. He emphasized that achieving a win at this stage, despite some shortcomings, was the most important aspect.
In a statement after the game, Diop affirmed that victory remains the most crucial element in such encounters. He stated: "It's great to win matches, especially during this preparatory phase for the World Cup. Even if everything wasn't perfect, we won, and that's the most important thing."
Diop added that the overall outcome remains positive, considering the changes the national team is undergoing. He explained: "I think the overall assessment is positive; there are many new players, and we've started to get to know each other, with a new coach and new principles to absorb. So, it can be said that the evaluation is positive."
Diop also praised the significant role played by the Moroccan fans in supporting the players throughout the match. He said: "The fans were fantastic; we were very happy, and they supported us throughout the game. It was wonderful to play in front of a stadium full of Moroccan supporters. This is always a positive thing and pushes us to give our best; they are truly the '12th man,' as they say."
He continued by highlighting the importance of these friendly matches, despite the short preparation period: "I believe these were two good preparatory matches. Although we didn't have enough time to work, we managed to implement some things, and today's victory is a positive point."
Diop concluded his statement by affirming that this victory provides a strong morale boost for the squad, adding: "It's the first win, and that's a great feeling, especially in World Cup warm-up matches. It's a good indicator for what's to come."
