Senegal national team coach Pape Thiaw has sent a message to 18 Senegalese fans detained in Morocco following unrest during the Africa Cup of Nations final.

Speaking at a press conference after Senegal's friendly victory over Peru on Saturday, Thiaw stated, "Since they have been there, I pray for them in every prayer. We are with them with all our hearts, and we will never abandon them. We will fight for their reunion with their families."

He added, "They came to support their national team, but unfortunately, what happened, happened. We hope they return to their families as soon as possible. We send them our support, and we stand by them, and we will do everything we can for them."
