Security Warnings in Spain Over Fake Copa del Rey Final Tickets
Basque regional police in Spain have issued a warning regarding the circulation of counterfeit tickets for the eagerly anticipated Copa del Rey final. The match is scheduled to take place in Seville between Real Sociedad and Atletico Madrid.
The warning comes after a fan reported being scammed while attempting to purchase tickets for the final. Following this report, the regional security department launched an official investigation into suspected fraud to identify and apprehend those involved in these illicit activities.
The affected fan detailed in their report that they had transferred money via a resale website to acquire tickets but subsequently received documents lacking the authentic QR code necessary to validate their entry. According to security authorities, the seller ceased all communication with the buyer immediately after the financial transaction was completed. Current investigations are focused on tracing the source of these operations and ensuring they do not recur with other fans.
These warnings precede the final scheduled for April 18. Organizers have allocated 25,680 tickets to each of the two clubs for their respective fan bases. Spanish security authorities have strongly urged fans to purchase tickets exclusively through approved official channels to avoid falling victim to such fraudulent practices, which exploit the significant public interest surrounding the final match.
