Leeds United Issues Statement Urging Fans to Respect Players Breaking Fast On Pitch
Leeds United has issued a statement on its official website, urging its fans to respect fasting players during their upcoming FA Cup fifth-round match against Norwich City.
The English club appealed to its supporters not to boo players who will break their fast on the pitch, approximately in the 75th minute of the match, which is scheduled for this coming Sunday (16:30 GMT) at Elland Road stadium.
English stadiums have become accustomed to adopting a temporary stoppage protocol to allow Muslim players to break their fast by consuming fluids and energy supplements.
Leeds United's statement comes after some supporters booed during a stoppage in play in the previous match against Manchester City, an action the club deemed disappointing, and aims to urge its fans to respect fasting during Ramadan.
