Santos After KACM Victory: 'We Haven't Had This Kind of Fan Support in Three Months, This Win is For Our Supporters'
Alexandre Santos, coach of AS FAR, affirmed that his team's 3-0 victory over Club Meknassi in matchday 14 of the Inwi Professional League was well-deserved. He stated that the win was a culmination of a strong and convincing performance throughout the match, while also praising the significant fan presence for the military club.
During the post-match press conference, Santos said: "For three months, we haven't had the opportunity to benefit from this kind of support. Even against Touarga, it wasn't possible to have many fans due to clear restrictions on our supporters. So, the first thing I said was that this victory and this great display of playing capabilities is for our fans, because for a long time they haven't been with us and haven't had the chance to help us."
"On the other hand, we have returned to the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, a great stadium, and God willing, we will continue to play here to receive all the support you saw today," the AS FAR coach added.
He continued: "We played well throughout the match. Only in the last 10 minutes was there a natural dip in physical readiness, coupled with injuries 20 minutes earlier. Despite some chances for the opponent, it was a great match. Against Touarga, we delivered a good performance, and today we confirmed that and continued to convince."
Santos noted that his team maintained 72% possession, highlighting that first-half possession reached approximately 80%. He explained that this reflected the team's strong pressing, collective spirit, and ability to close down spaces against an opponent who started the season strongly and is known for counter-attacks. However, Club Meknassi posed no significant threat thanks to AS FAR's good positioning and collective discipline.
The AS FAR coach concluded his statement by emphasizing that the team played with speed, dynamism, and an attractive attacking style, managing to score three goals to achieve the primary objective of winning and securing three points. He indicated that the focus is now on winning all upcoming matches to get closer to the top of the league, a goal that was furthered after this round.
