Sevilla Goalkeeper Odysseas Vlachodimos Wins La Liga's February Save of the Month Award

Odysseas Vlachodimos, Sevilla's goalkeeper, has been awarded La Liga's Save of the Month for February, in recognition of his crucial intervention against Viktor Tsygankov during Matchday 23 of the competition. This accolade follows the Greek goalkeeper's impressive performance in his team's 1-1 draw against Girona at the Andalusian club's stadium, where he stood out as a key player, making vital saves that prevented the visitors from taking the lead.

Vlachodimos delivered an exceptional display in that match, not only making the award-winning save but also stopping a penalty kick from striker Cristhian Stuani, directly contributing to his team securing a point. The goalkeeper triumphed in the voting over David Soria and Sergio Herrera, solidifying his strong presence in the domestic league after also being nominated for the same award last January for another remarkable save against Ilaix Moriba.

This season, Vlachodimos has played 21 matches in La Liga and one in the Copa del Rey, establishing himself as a fundamental part of his team's lineup, despite being on loan from English club Newcastle United. The current loan agreement with Sevilla does not include a permanent purchase clause, leaving his future subject to upcoming negotiations between the Spanish and English clubs.
