Moroccan FA Officially Denies Walid Regragui Departure Amid Ongoing Speculation
The Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) has issued a brief statement denying recent reports about its separation from national team coach Walid Regragui. The federation confirmed Regragui's continued tenure at the helm of the Moroccan national football team's technical staff. The official statement read: “The Royal Moroccan Football Federation denies the circulating news regarding its separation from coach Mr. Walid Regragui.”
Earlier, several media sources had reported that Regragui informed close associates he would not be with the 'Atlas Lions' for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, set to be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico. This information had sparked numerous questions regarding the future of the national team's technical leadership in the coming phase.
According to the same reports, this potential departure was understood to be in the context of a period marked by significant pressure and criticism directed at the national coach following some recent results, despite his historic achievement of leading Morocco to the semi-finals of the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
