Oral Agreement Between Zidane and French Federation to Lead "Les Bleus" After 2026 World Cup
French legend Zinedine Zidane is reportedly close to returning to the coaching world, having emerged as the leading candidate to succeed Didier Deschamps as head coach of "Les Bleus."
According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, there has been no discussion about the 1998 World Cup winner taking over Xabi Alonso's role at Real Madrid. Romano indicated that this is because Zidane is fully focused on the French national team.
Romano further stated that an oral agreement has been reached with the French Football Federation for Zinedine Zidane to take charge of the national team after the 2026 World Cup. However, he emphasized that everything remains subject to change, as long as no official contract has been signed, any surprise cannot be ruled out.
Zinedine Zidane has been away from coaching since leaving Real Madrid in the summer of 2021, despite his name being linked with several European clubs in recent years.
