Beye and Haise: Two Coaches Lead Different Ligue 1 Teams in Same Season
Olympique Marseille announced the signing of coach Habib Beye just ten days after his departure from Stade Rennais. Meanwhile, Franck Haise succeeded Beye at Stade Rennais approximately a month and a half after leaving OGC Nice. This rapid succession represents an unprecedented situation in Ligue 1 since 2000, with two coaches taking charge of different teams within the same season.
Habib Beye is expected to set a 21st-century record with no more than 13 days between his last match with Stade Rennais and his first with Olympique Marseille. In contrast, Franck Haise spent a break with his family in Canada after leaving OGC Nice. He indicated that this period was beneficial for reflection and recharging, stating: "Two months of downtime, that has only happened to me twice in 39 years of my professional career. [...] These two months benefited me, and I returned with a lot of desire and energy after having the opportunity to review part of the past and understand what I could and should have done better."
Beye's departure from Stade Rennais involved a conciliation process before the French Professional Football League (LFP), highlighting the complexities of such transitions. In the same vein, consulted experts offered varying perspectives on the importance of "recovery" and personal circumstances when considering rapid coaching changes. Coach Frédéric Antonetti commented on the speed of return, saying: "It depends on how the previous experience ended. You need to recover because it's a demanding profession," adding, "It also depends on the offer. Some offers cannot be refused and must be seized."
