Fiorentina to Face Jagiellonia Białystok with Depleted Squad in Conference League
Fiorentina has announced its readiness to play the first leg of the UEFA Conference League qualifiers against Jagiellonia Białystok with a significantly depleted squad.
Coach Paolo Vanoli confirmed the absence of five key players due to a combination of injuries, planned rest, and ineligibility. The absent players include the injured De Gea, Gudmundsson, and Solomon. Dodo and Kean will be rested, while Brescianini is ineligible to play on the UEFA list.
Vanoli indicated that eight players from the Primavera (youth team) have been called up to compensate for the squad shortages. He stated, “I have no fear of fielding a young player.”
Vanoli emphasized that the domestic league remains the team's main priority, despite the club's ambition to progress in the Conference League. He added, “Every match has a special motivation... We are playing an important match in the Conference League, and we must realize that there is a playoff match we need to try and overcome, but we must be clear that the tie is decided over two legs.”
This situation arises as Fiorentina currently sits in the bottom three of the league standings, with a crucial league match against Pisa scheduled for next Monday.
