Crystal Palace Manager Criticizes Board After Another Loss
Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner has strongly criticized the club's board following their 2-1 defeat to Sunderland on Saturday. This loss marked the team's tenth consecutive match across all competitions without a win.
Speaking to the BBC, Glasner stated he felt “completely abandoned,” adding, “We feel like we have no support. We've been playing with the same players for weeks, and the substitutes' bench consists only of youngsters. We have 12 or 13 players available in the first-team squad. They must be protected; this is unfair to them.”
The manager revealed that team captain Marc Guéhi, 25, had transferred to Manchester City for over €20 million. Glasner noted he learned of the transfer “yesterday morning at 10:30 AM, one day before this match.” He continued, “This is the worst thing that can happen. I had to announce to everyone that the captain would not be playing.”
Glasner also remarked that “your heart is ripped out twice in the same season, on the eve of a match,” referring to Eberechi Eze's departure to Arsenal last summer.
Crystal Palace currently sits 13th in the Premier League. Glasner has announced he will leave the club at the end of the season but believes the team will avoid relegation.
