Crystal Palace Sign Brennan Johnson in Club-Record Deal
Crystal Palace have officially announced the signing of 24-year-old Welsh international right-winger Brennan Johnson from Tottenham Hotspur. The club confirmed that the deal, valued at £35 million, represents a new club record. In an official statement, Crystal Palace said: "Crystal Palace have completed the transfer of Welsh international Brennan Johnson from Tottenham Hotspur as part of a club-record deal. The 24-year-old Welsh international has signed a four-and-a-half-year contract and will wear the No. 11 shirt for the Eagles."
Johnson, who was also a target for AFC Bournemouth, had joined Tottenham in September 2023 from Nottingham Forest in a deal reportedly exceeding £45 million. Tottenham wished him well for the future, stating: "We thank Brennan for his contribution and wish him all the best for the future."
Manager Oliver Glasner expressed his delight with the signing, saying: "I am really happy that Brennan has joined the club. He has arrived very early in the transfer window, so credit to the club for getting this done so quickly. Brennan will give us options in our attacking play with his pace and goal-scoring ability, and with all the upcoming matches, he will be a valuable addition to the squad."
For his part, Johnson conveyed his enthusiasm about joining his new team, stating: "I'm really excited and happy. Crystal Palace is a great club, I've always admired them. It's a fantastic time for me to be here and join the journey this club is on – I'm extremely excited."
Johnson is expected to be eligible to feature in his first match for Palace next Sunday against Newcastle United.
