German club Hamburg confirmed on Monday the dismissal of its former sporting director, Stefan Kuntz, following allegations of sexual harassment.

The club stated in an official announcement: “In December 2025, the supervisory board of HSV Fußball Management AG received allegations of serious misconduct by Stefan Kuntz.” The club added that it found these allegations credible, leading to the immediate termination of their cooperation with him.

For his part, Kuntz agreed to the termination of the contract but refused to make any statement to the board, claiming instead that what happened was a “smear campaign” and vowing to take legal action against the newspaper “Bild.”

Hamburg emphasized its firm stance, stating that it “does not tolerate any form of sexual harassment and firmly upholds values such as respect, tolerance, and non-discriminatory behavior.” Kuntz, a winner of the 1996 European Championship, previously coached Germany's U21 national team and the Turkish national team.
