Regragui: "Hakimi is Ready; He Feels No Pain from Injury and is Available for Tanzania Match"
Walid Regragui, head coach of the Moroccan national team, confirmed Achraf Hakimi's readiness to participate in tomorrow's match against Tanzania in the Africa Cup of Nations Round of 16. Regragui noted that the team had been clear from the start of the competition regarding the player's status following his injury.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference, Regragui stated: "Regarding Achraf Hakimi, we have always been clear since the start of the competition. Since his injury, we have always communicated well. The goal we set with Achraf was to gradually help him regain his strength, through training, of course, and to reintroduce him into the competition at the right time."
He added: "Therefore, he played for half an hour against Zambia, and that was also under comfortable conditions for him, without taking on too much physical risk. Now he is ready, he feels no pain from his injury, so he is able to participate in tomorrow's match, and after that, the decision rests with me as the coach."
Regragui continued: "He could have played a little in the first match, and also in the second, but I made the decision to prepare him fully because I wanted someone 100% ready. Today, we can involve Hakimi in matches."
Regragui concluded his remarks by emphasizing that the team is now entering the real competition phase: "Now, we are entering the real competition, and we will think again before the match this evening, but Achraf Hakimi is available for selection."
