Cameroonian Abdoul Mefire, Youngest Referee in Tournament, Appointed for Morocco vs. Mali Clash

24 December 2025at19:08

The Referees Committee of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has appointed Cameroonian referee Abdoul Mefire to officiate the match between the Moroccan national team and their Malian counterparts. This fixture is part of the second round of Group A in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Mefire has prior experience with Moroccan football, having refereed the African Nations Championship (CHAN) final on August 30, which saw Morocco face Madagascar at the Moi Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi, the Kenyan capital.

This will be the Cameroonian referee's first experience as a center referee in the Africa Cup of Nations, although he was appointed as the fourth official for the match between Tunisia and Uganda yesterday.

At 29 years old, the Cameroonian referee is the youngest center referee in the current edition of the Africa Cup of Nations. This appointment reflects the continental refereeing committee's confidence in his competence, despite his young age.

The match between Morocco and Mali is scheduled for Friday, kicking off at 9:00 PM Moroccan time, at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
