Chaos and Stampede Caused by Algerian FA's Random Free Ticket Distribution for Sudan Match

The Algerian Football Federation's (FAF) method of distributing free tickets nearly led to a disaster on Wednesday afternoon. Scenes of chaos and a stampede erupted among Algerian fans outside the "Greens'" team hotel in Rabat, the Moroccan capital. Fans were eager to attend their national team's opening Africa Cup of Nations 2025 group stage match against Sudan.

According to posts by activists on "X" (formerly Twitter), Algerian supporters without tickets were invited to the hotel with promises of free entry. However, poor organization and the haphazard throwing of tickets into the air resulted in a significant stampede, accompanied by shouts and altercations among those present.
