Sudden Change in Al-Jaish vs. Al-Ahly Match: CAF Replaces Referee Moataz Al-Shalmani with Brother After Failing Physical Test
The official list for the refereeing crew of the Al-Jaish Al-Malaki (FAR Rabat) vs. Al-Ahly SC match, scheduled for November 28th at 8 PM at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Complex in Rabat, for the second round of the CAF Champions League group stage, has seen a sudden change concerning the main referee.
The match sheet, a copy of which was obtained by "Al-Botola", indicates that Libyan referee Moataz Al-Shalmani has been replaced by his brother, Ahmed Al-Shalmani. This change comes after Moataz failed the referees' physical test, which was conducted approximately one week ago in Egypt.
The match will be officiated by an all-Libyan crew, led by referee Ahmed Abdul Razzaq Ahmed Al-Shalmani. He will be assisted by Ahmed Mohamed Mungi as the first assistant and Basem Seif Al-Nasser as the second assistant. The role of fourth official has been assigned to Libyan Abdul Wahid Hreiouida.
CAF confirmed that Massa Diarra from Mauritania will serve as the General Match Commissioner. Malawian Tulipo Glenn Mweynelombe has been appointed General Coordinator, while Moroccan Hiyam Benhammou will be in charge of media. Moroccan Mariam Rakid will be responsible for in-stadium broadcasting.
CAF's correspondence also confirmed another change, affecting the Ivorian Security Officer, Souleymane Cherif, who was unable to attend. He will be replaced by his compatriot, Atie Claude Eloh.
CAF concluded its statement by affirming that all changes were made for administrative and physical reasons related to the referees, and that the match will proceed as scheduled.
