Cameroon Coach After Playoff Elimination: 'Everyone is Disappointed, But That Won't Be an Excuse for Poor Performance at AFCON 2025'
Cameroon national team coach Marc Brys has stated that his side's failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup will not prevent them from delivering a strong performance at the Africa Cup of Nations "Morocco 2025". Cameroon was defeated 1-0 by DR Congo in the final minutes of their African playoff semi-final match. This game was a qualifier for the FIFA intercontinental playoff, set for March 2026, which will ultimately decide Africa's tenth and final spot at the World Cup.
Following the match, Brys commented: "These are professional players who are active in the biggest clubs. Everyone is disappointed, but they must recover calmly, and the psychological aspect is the most crucial."
Brys continued: "We have time, and we will be ready for the Africa Cup of Nations. We will take our time to process what happened, but we will be eager to prepare for the African tournament."
The Cameroon coach concluded by stating: "I do not believe this will serve as an excuse for not delivering a good performance at the Africa Cup of Nations."
