Jaouani: 'The Mental Aspect is Our Biggest Problem, We Will Fight Until the Last Breath'

Munir Jaouani, coach of Olympique Safi, affirmed that the mental aspect poses the greatest challenge for his team at this current stage, following their one-goal defeat to Wydad AC in matchday 23 of the Professional League.

Speaking at the post-match press conference, Jaouani explained that the players were significantly affected by the result, noting that he tried to lift their spirits immediately after the final whistle, especially given that most of the squad consists of young players.

The Olympique Safi coach stated: "The players are young and need proper guidance. I told them that losing to Wydad is normal, and we must quickly put this defeat behind us. When we entered the dressing room, I sensed that the players were devastated, but that's just how life is."

He added: "We will fight until the last breath, God willing. It's not just Jaouani who will save Olympique Safi; all members of the club will be called upon to take responsibility at the end of the season."

Jaouani also emphasized that the team's difficult position at the bottom of the league table directly impacts the players' mental state, explaining that the constant discussion surrounding the threat of relegation negatively affects the squad.

He continued: "The mental aspect is the major problem we are facing. As everyone knows, we are going through a very difficult period and are in last place. The young players constantly hear negative comments about the team's situation and the possibility of relegation to the second division, which sows seeds of doubt in their minds."

Jaouani concluded his statement by asserting that the technical staff is working diligently to help the players overcome this psychological crisis, while holding onto hope for improved results in the remaining fixtures of the season.
