Ryan Mmaee: "Morocco Has a Good Team, What They Achieved in the Last World Cup Was an Exceptional Feat"
Moroccan international Ryan Mmaee, forward for Cypriot club Omonia Nicosia, affirmed that the national team has earned significant respect following its recent achievements. He noted that replicating their performance from the previous World Cup would be challenging, despite the team possessing talented players capable of going far in upcoming competitions.
In an interview with Agence France-Presse (AFP), Mmaee stated, "I believe the Moroccan national team has a good squad, and there is a lot of talent. What they achieved in the last World Cup was exceptional, but repeating it will be harder this time due to the level of expectations. Nevertheless, in football, anything is possible, and they could go very far."
Speaking about his international choices and beginnings, he added, "We could have also played for Cameroon and Belgium. I played in Belgium's youth categories, but I was called up to the Moroccan national team at the age of 18 by coach Hervé Renard."
He continued, "Morocco was doing great work on both the sporting and financial levels, and I saw a real project, especially at the Mohammed VI Academy. This, in addition to my family ties, made the decision easy for me."
He further noted, "My brother and I were very proud to represent Morocco, and with the results the national team achieved in the World Cup and the Africa Cup of Nations, choosing Morocco has become more attractive to players."
