Official: David Alaba Announces Real Madrid Departure at End of Contract in June
Austrian defender David Alaba has officially announced his departure from Spanish club Real Madrid, effective upon the expiration of his current contract on June 30.
The Royal Club confirmed in an official statement that an agreement has been reached to conclude the player's journey after five seasons within the walls of the Santiago Bernabéu.
Alaba joined Real Madrid on a free transfer from German club Bayern Munich in the summer of 2021, embarking on a highly successful journey that saw him win 11 titles.
During this period, the defender played 131 matches for the team, contributing to two UEFA Champions League titles, two La Liga titles, as well as several other domestic and continental cups.
Despite the significant successes achieved by the Austrian defender, his time with the club was plagued by recurring injuries, most notably an anterior cruciate ligament tear in December 2023.
In recognition of his contributions over the past years, Real Madrid intends to hold a special farewell ceremony for the player at the Santiago Bernabéu stadium next Saturday, in appreciation of his efforts and dedication in defending the team's colors.
