Thibaut Courtois Enters Spanish Club Ownership with CD Extremadura Investment

NXTPLAY, the sports investment platform co-founded by Real Madrid goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois in collaboration with Gonzalo Villa, has announced the signing of an official agreement to become a partner in the ownership of Spanish club CD Extremadura. This agreement marks a step to strengthen the Belgian goalkeeper's presence in football club management and ownership. The deal was reached with the club's current president, Daniel Tafor, who will retain his duties in leading both the institutional and sporting projects for the upcoming phase.

Negotiations for the acquisition of a stake in the club's ownership spanned a full year, during which the team's recent sporting growth was closely monitored. CD Extremadura successfully achieved its fourth consecutive promotion, returning to the Spanish Third Division. This accomplishment was a decisive factor in reinforcing the new investors' decision to join the club's administrative structure.

In a related context, this is not the sports platform's first investment, as it previously led a similar investment operation in French club Le Mans. Interestingly, both Le Mans and CD Extremadura achieved promotion in the same season, with the aim of building upon their successes while maintaining administrative stability under the supervision of Daniel Tafor.

Thibaut Courtois expressed his pride in this move.
